The Mediterranean Foundation (MIN4CI) was established by the University Côte d’Azur, Aix-Marseille University, Avignon University, and the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Region to pool their efforts in the realm of cultural and creative activities. Functioning as an educational, research, innovation, and incubation hub, the MIN4CI Foundation brings together various stakeholders in the sector, including academics, local authorities, public and private partners, and cultural institutions, within the regional territory. It also contributes to the region's prominence on the European stage as a founding member of the EIT Culture and Creativity. The Foundation draws strength from the major cultural events in its area, such as the Avignon Theatre Festival, the Cannes International Film Festival, and the Aix-en-Provence Festival of Lyric Art, as well as an exceptional tangible and intangible heritage. Its mission includes the structuring of innovation throughout the entire region.

The European Union has endorsed the creation of an EIT (European Institute of Innovation and Technology) dedicated to structuring the cultural and creative sectors and industries (CCSI). This partnership, signed for seven years to begin with, aims to fund education, innovation and business creation initiatives to promote sustainable growth in Europe's cultural and creative sectors. The MIN4CI Foundation, composed of Université Côte d'Azur, Aix-Marseille Université, Avignon Université and the Région Sud, is a founding member of the EIT Culture & Creativity, and as such intends to seize this opportunity to contribute to the European outreach of the ecosystem of the Région Sud by relaying the actions of the EIT Culture & Creativity throughout its territory. -

EIT Culture & Creativity is launching a call for proposals to fund Continuous Professional Development (CPD) courses in 2025, designed to upskill professionals in the Cultural and Creative Sectors and Industries (CCSI). This initiative supports Europe’s green, digital, and social transitions, focusing on key areas such as fashion, architecture, cultural heritage, audio-visual media, and gaming. -

On 22 and 23 April 2025, the second edition of the EIT Culture & Creativity Innovation Forum was held in Nice. This flagship event explored the transformative role of the cultural and creative sectors in the transition to a circular economy. Organised under the theme ‘Creativity Meets Circularity’, the forum brought together around 130 participants from all over Europe, including researchers, entrepreneurs, artists, policy-makers and representatives of European institutions. The event was co-organised by the MIN4CI foundation (Mediterranean Innovative Narratives Competence Center for Cultural and Creative Industries, made up of Université Côte d'Azur, Aix-Marseille Université, Avignon Université and Région Sud).
